I have monumental respect for military families. I grew up as an Air Force Brat & saw the stress, yet pride in my mom’s face everyday. The kind of life they had to lead from my dad having to leave for top secret missions to my mom being by his side at the evacuation of Saigon, makes me proud. I also don’t know if I could have been a military wife myself. As a daughter of an Air Force Lt. Col., I already stressed every time my dad had to go away to places like Iraq for up to a year at a time. My sister and I would be stuck to the TV everyday listening for the news and waiting for the phone call that he was okay after some blast had been reported. Not my mom. She would always try to get us not to worry and to turn the TV off.
Needless to say, it is very easy to see the pride in a soldier’s eyes and there is something to say about the will to go to war to protect our country as a whole, even when the country may not stand behind the cause at all times. Today, our entire family stands in remembrance of those who gave their lives for our country. God Bless those families who have suffered and God Bless the USA.
