How do I know what color and product to use on the skin?
How can I cover up those dark circles?
What can I do to cover breakouts?
How do I cover up hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and scarring on all skin tones?
How can I highlight and contour to bring out features while keeping the makeup natural looking?
What are the differences in creating flawless skin for print editorials, vs tv, vs red carpet/events?
What products do you use?
What are your preferred tools for working on the skin?
I’ll be answering all this and more in my “Perfecting the Canvas” class at The Makeup Show in NY this Sunday, the 13th. Come with your questions and brushes and let me help you conquer any roadblocks you might be running into when looking to create the perfect canvas. Contact info@themakeupshow.com now as seats are very limited!

…Tropical Punch? (@elevenobjects) We think it’s safe to say that concert season is about to kick-off in a major way. With Coachella around the corner, we’ve been gearing up for ferris wheels, overpriced pizza, margarita bars, and insanely warm weather. So let’s pack up our luggage and get rocker-chic ready!
Work your festival-ready look with punchy prints and a cherry lush lip. A pineapple print collar is playful and fun while leather shorts add the perfect dose of edge. Take your outfit to the next level with the IRO Clay tee — ripped in all the right places. Style Tip: round out the look with beach-y waves and a psychedelic headpiece worn across your forehead like a true hippie. And we know that no concert outfit is complete until you’re dripping in swag—make your look the main attraction with a thin wrap necklace, an assortment of cuffs and bangles, and you’re ready to rage.

...Heavy Metal? (@JonathanSimkhai) As many of you already know, we are prone to mixing our heavy metals. Shine like a true style star in these killer gold sequined shorts by Nonoo, a silver collar necklace by New York based designer Mona Assemi, and exclusive gold spray-laced chucks from WGACA. Keep cool in Jonathan Simkhai’s breezy striped racer tank, and complete your ensemble with this season’s summer staple: the baseball jacket. We are loving this casual-chic suede-and-leather option by Jonathan Simkhai.

Behind the Scenes of an upcoming editorial for Washington Life Magazine. I’ll excuse that lovely Tim Coburn said that hair AND makeup was done by James, but it’s because he is used to it being that way haha! I did makeup for this shoot using Face Atelier and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. Looking forward to seeing it out on stands the end of March! ~Kat
I was looking through old links I had favorited and came across this one, one that makes me question if a ton of my followers came as a byproduct of this article on Gawker introducing me as Demi Moore’s “stylist”. Looking back this is pretty hilarious, but shows just how powerful Social Media can be. I noticed a huge spike in followers after this quick article came out and after she added me to her friends list. I then realized that people actually DO go through their fave stars friends list and add everyone they have as well. I am not sure the purpose of it, but I am sure there are a bunch of people who could care less about what I have to say about makeup following me. haha!
For the record: The only conversation I have had with Demi since we worked together on Inauguration Day has been about Chipotle burritos on Twitter…which by the way had nearly 100 retweets. lol!!
I just can’t even imagine having that much of a response on twitter. I would never see anyone’s actual thoughts between all the retweets! I am in awe of the celebrities who reach out on twitter and actually keep up with it (and can’t say I really blame them if they have someone else handling all the traffic!).
